The R1900 CIS package The R1900 CIS and the ink set are shipped separately. If you received one package and found the ink set or the CIS is missing, do not panic. The second package will arrive soon. In the CIS package, look for a set of prefilled refillable cartridges in the box. These cartridges are filled with the same inks that will be used in the CIS. These cartridges will let you continue to print until you have time to install the CIS. The R1900 cartridges are completely different from the R1800 cartridges.
Chip reset
Reset the chip by pressing the ink button to move the cartridge to exchange position and pressing the same button again to return the cartridge carriage to park position. The cartridge must be lifted to disconnect with the printer or the chip will not reset. The CIS keeps the cartridges full, so the cartridge is always full, as long as the external tank is filled with ink.
When the ink level reaches 20%, the cartridge LED will flash and the software ink monitor pop up message will say the cartridge is going empty. **This is the time to reset the chip. Lift the cartridge and re-seat it to reset the chip. The press of the ink button will initiate a chip reset. **Only the low level chips will be reset.
Archival Pigment inks Our Archival Pigment inks are fully compatible with Epson inks. If no 3rd party inks have been used before, there is no need to purge the print heads. Expect very good color without color management. Custom ICC profile will make it better. This ink set is excellent for luster and matte paper. On glossy paper, the finish is slightly less glossy.
Service Counter Epson printer has a built in service counter that keep track of the number of times the cartridges have been replaced, cleaning cycles run, or number of pages printed. All the work performed adds to the service counter. It is important to minimize the work performed on the printer to avoid the service counter value increase. Avoid swapping the cartridges if possible. Epson is now providing a service program to reset the service counter. Epson will warn you any 3rd party ink used will damage their printer. Don't let them fool you, our ink is fully compatible with Epson ink there are hundreds of Ink System Pro out there and many were installed 4 years ago on printers still working like it was before.
If you ever need to have the service counter reset, send me an email.
Exchanging cartridges If there is a reason the cartridge must be exchanged, check to make sure the same version chips are used. This means they must be used as a set. Mixed version chips might not work.
